H.E. Ngokwey Ndolamb, Ambassador to the UK, Demcoratic Republic of the Congo
H.E. Ngokwey Ndolamb is a former senior international civil servant with thirty years of experience at the United Nations in humanitarian, development and peacekeeping. He was Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary General, Humanitarian Coordinator, United Nations System Coordinator and UNDP Representative in Côte d'Ivoire with the rank of Assistant Secretary General. Mr. Ngokwey Ndolamb was also Head of Diplomatic Mission as Representative of UNICEF in Cape Verde, Guinea, Senegal, Benin, Antilles and representative of UNDP in Mozambique and Ivory Coast. He also served as Executive Secretary of the UNICEF Board of Directors (the first African to occupy this strategic position) in New York and as Deputy Regional Director of UNICEF for West and Central Africa in Abidjan.
Since 2020, Mr. Ngokwey Ndolamb has been a member of the Board of Directors of the African Union COVID-19 Fund. In 2021-2022, he was a member of the Presidential Panel responsible for supporting the DRC's mandate at the head of the African Union.
Mr. Ngokwey Ndolamb holds a PhD in Social Sciences, a Masters in Public Health, a Masters in Anthropology and a Masters in Development Economics, all from the University of California, Los Angeles and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of Lubumbashi. Author of several books and articles, Mr. Ngokwey, appointed Professor at UNILU in 1985, has also taught in the USA, Ivory Coast, Benin, Brazil and Mozambique, mainly on questions of social policies, public health, cultural globalization and development cooperation. Polyglot, Mr. Ngokwey speaks English, Portuguese and the four Congolese national languages.
