Role: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chapter Manager to lead Invest Africa’s activities in the UAE. This role requires a deep understanding of the UAE-Africa trade and investment corridor, including the key investors, corporates, and public sector stakeholders driving two-way trade and investment between the regions. The ideal candidate will combine expertise in trade and investment trends with excellent business development and account management skills, fostering strong relationships with current members, recruiting new members, and delivering high-quality service to the entire membership base across the subregion. The role also involves working across Invest Africa’s three strategic pillars (IA Membership, IA Connect, and IA Consult), including playing a leading role organizing and executing a flagship conference in the UAE.
Key Responsibilities
Membership Relations:
Build and maintain relationships with current members in the UAE Chapter.
Promote the Invest Africa platform to corporates, DFIs, multinationals, and investors across the UAE and Africa.
Develop a pipeline of potential members and partners to grow the network.
Represent Invest Africa at networking events, conferences, and other external engagements.
Ensure regular and effective communication with the UAE-based and global network.
Membership Events:
Develop the content and programming for the UAE Chapter’s events.
Secure and manage high-profile speakers for events.
Market events effectively to attract members and relevant stakeholders.
Coordinate event logistics, including finding suitable venues, managing guest lists, and overseeing event-day operations.
Flagship Event: The Africa Debate – UAE:
Project manage The Africa Debate – UAE, a key regional edition of Invest Africa’s flagship conference, in collaboration with the Events Manager and the London-based team. Responsibilities include:
Programme content development and speaker acquisition.
Securing event sponsorships and monetising opportunities.
Leading delegate marketing efforts. Managing VIP and government relations.
Overseeing venue selection and logistics.
Strategic Partnerships:
Forge partnerships with Africa-focused organisations and institutions in the UAE.
Maintain collaborative relationships with media outlets and trade associations.
Public Affairs:
Act as the key liaison between Invest Africa and UAE government ministries, African embassies in the UAE, and their African counterparts.
Candidate Requirements
Educated to degree level, with knowledge of African trade and investment trends.
Proven experience in account management, business development, or stakeholder engagement.
Strong understanding of the UAE-Africa trade and investment corridor.
Strategic thinker with a results-driven mindset and a collaborative attitude.
Self-starter with excellent organisational and time management skills.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging diverse stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Proficiency in CRM systems and marketing tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, Mailchimp).
Fluent in English, with additional proficiency in an African language or Arabic considered an advantage.
Must hold the right to work in the UAE (we are unable to sponsor work visas).
Possession of the right to work visa in the UAE as we are unable to sponsor a work visa.

Role: We are seeking an experienced and innovative Marketing and Media Manager to lead the organisation’s media and marketing activities. This is a unique opportunity for a communications professional with a deep interest in African affairs and trade and investment trends. The ideal candidate will have strong media relations expertise, experience in crafting impactful marketing campaigns, and the ability to manage high-profile relationships across the public and private sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
Marketing
Create and distribute member communications, including daily briefs, weekly updates, monthly newsletters, and bespoke mailers.
Develop and execute strategies to effectively communicate events and maximise impact.
Plan, design, and execute targeted marketing campaigns to expand reach and engagement.
Manage social media content creation to promote events and initiatives.
Develop promotional content for both in-person and virtual engagements, leveraging insights from the network.
Oversee website updates to ensure relevant and timely information is available.
Maintain and update communication systems and databases (e.g., Salesforce, Constant Contact) to ensure accuracy and organisation.
Media Relations
Build and nurture relationships with key journalists, editors, and media outlets across print, digital, and broadcast channels, particularly those focused on African trade, investment, and development.
Serve as the primary media contact for Invest Africa, managing press enquiries and securing media coverage for events, initiatives, and thought leadership
Draft and distribute press releases, op-eds, and statements to ensure consistent and impactful media messaging.
Monitor media coverage and produce comprehensive reports for internal stakeholders, identifying opportunities for further engagement.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in marketing, communications, international relations, or a related field.
Minimum of 4 years’ experience in marketing and communications.
Knowledge of and passion for African affairs, trade, and investment trends.
Proven experience in media relations, with established relationships across relevant outlets and a track record of securing impactful coverage.
Strong writing and editing skills, with experience in crafting press releases, op-eds, newsletters, and marketing materials.
Creativity and strategic thinking, with a demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful marketing campaigns.
Familiarity with CRM systems and marketing tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, Adobe, Mailchimp).

Role: We are seeking a highly organised, detail-oriented, and proactive Events Manager to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in the successful planning and execution of our extensive event portfolio. The successful person will have a passion for African affairs, trade, and investment trends, combined with outstanding event/conference coordination experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Event Planning & Execution
Plan, coordinate, and deliver over 30 high-level events annually, including: 1) Private roundtables with heads of state, ministers, and senior executives & 2) 2-3 large-scale conferences with 500+ attendees.
Collaborate with internal teams to develop and deliver detailed event plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring events are delivered on time, within scope, and to a high standard.
Oversee all logistical planning including venue selection, catering, AV requirements, supplier briefings, registration, signage, travel, and accommodation.
Lead on-site event management, including registration, delegate coordination, speaker arrangements, and troubleshooting.
Programme Development
Work closely with the CEO and research teams to design compelling event programmes aligned with key themes in African trade, investment, and development.
Identify, invite, and liaise with high-profile speakers, including senior government officials, CEOs, and thought leaders.
Draft and edit agendas, briefing notes, and promotional materials to ensure clarity and impact.
Stakeholder Engagement
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including sponsors, speakers, and delegates.
Act as the main point of contact for sponsors, ensuring that all entitlements are delivered, and queries resolved promptly.
Communications & Marketing Support
Coordinate with the marketing team to ensure consistent promotion of events across digital, print, and social media channels.
Assist with event-related communications, e.g. invitations, emails, and press releases.
Provide input on post-event reports, gathering feedback from stakeholders to continuously improve the quality of events.
Qualifications & Experience:
At least 4 years’ experience in event operations, ideally within a think tank, NGO, publishing house or private corporation.
Proven ability to deliver high-profile events, from intimate roundtables to large-scale conferences.
Interest in and knowledge of African trade, investment, and economic development.
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously.
Experience in managing VIP speakers and sponsors.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Personal Skills:
Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Collaborative team player with a can-do attitude who can work well under pressure.
Strong interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders.
Familiarity with CRM systems and event management platforms (e.g., Salesforce).
Familiarity with one or more widely spoken African languages (e.g., French, Swahili, Arabic, etc.) is an advantage but not mandatory.
