GreenCo initiatives in Zambia

Recognising the challenges faced by national utilities across Southern Africa and the unsustainable burden placed on national governments in providing guarantees in respect of their national utility’s obligations to IPPs, GreenCo aims to play an active part in the evolution of power markets in Southern Africa into a dynamic multi-seller, multi-buyer model.

GreenCo is excited to support Zambia as well as ZESCO, IPPs, C&Is, and other key energy sector stakeholders in bringing innovative and sustainable energy shifts into the country. Since its incorporation in 2018, GreenCo has embarked on a number of initiatives in Zambia listed as follows:

  • Ilute 25MW Solar PV Power Plant

  • Promotion of Open Access and market reforms

  • Aggregation in the energy sector

  • iMetric: Measuring impact through data

  • Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)
