Raj Kulasingam, Senior Counsel, Dentons

Raj is a senior corporate/commercial lawyer at Dentons and an angel investor, adviser and mentor.

His 30+ year legal career has covered a range of transactions in various sectors including financial services, private equity, venture capital, real estate, energy (including renewables and oil and gas), transport, utilities and other infrastructure.

He has built a world-class network and practice, by being not just a legal adviser but also being a connector who is approachable, commercial, enthusiastic, cheerful, humorous, open, practical and collaborative. He aims to add value to all clients and contacts that he engages with.

He works with Dentons teams and offices across the globe in originating and advising on transactions in numerous sectors and is an active member of Dentons' Global Africa Group. He is both passionate and optimistic about the future of the Continent.

When he is not working at Dentons, Raj is an active angel investor, adviser and mentor. He began his investment career in the early 2000s. Since then, he has continued to invest in a variety of businesses in the UK, US, Africa and SE Asia from early stage (seed and pre-seed), to Series A start-ups and growth capital businesses and has a current portfolio of more than 30 companies and 6 funds. His investment thesis: is “invest in great founders, add value and help them kick down the right doors.”

Raj enjoys public speaking, meeting & greeting, and is now mastering the art of Social Distancing. He is a frequent speaker, moderator and panelist on legal, business, entrepreneurship, energy/infrastructure, VC/PE, angel investing and other subjects.
