Leanne heads up the TMT Sector Group at Webber Wentzel.

She is an expert with 26 years of experience in commercial Intellectual Property (IP) and Technology Law (with a recent particular interest in artificial intelligence and the Metaverse).

She advises clients, ranging from start-ups to multinationals, on protecting, maintaining, restructuring, enforcing and monetising their IP assets and assisting in aligning their IP strategy with their business strategy. Leanne drafts all types of agreements that involve IP assets and works regularly on the IP and technology aspects of M&A and private equity transactions.

Leanne has established a reputation as one of SA’s top experts in IP exchange control matters, having assisted many TMT companies in restructuring their IP offshore. Her lobbying since 2016 for changes to IP exchange control regulations won the team the accolade of "IP Team of the Year" in Legal Week's African Legal Awards 2017.
