Jessica Spira, Sector Head: Healthcare and Hospitality, Rand Merchant Bank

Jessica is the Sector Head for Healthcare and Hospitality at Rand Merchant Bank. She has a deep knowledge of the healthcare industry, having covered a number of clients both within the sector and adjacencies for many years.

She has an Honours degree from WITS, as well as a higher diploma in Taxation. She is a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA)(SA).

Jessica joined RMB in 2001 and has extensive experience with various banking products across Corporate and Investment Banking. In her previous role as one of RMB’s Business Development Directors, she covered a diverse set of large corporate client relationships and has been responsible for the successful conclusion of some of South Africa’s largest landmark transactions.

As a result of being integrally involved in the SPIRE Fund – FirstRand’s COVID-19 response initiative, she has been working alongside the role players in the private and public healthcare sectors to find solutions for the many challenges we have faced in the COVID-19  pandemic. These interactions have required the integration of her expertise and relationships across the public and private sector, as well as NGOs and DFIs - paving the way for similar collaborative solutions for healthcare provision in the future.
