Gilles Vaes, CEO, InfraCo Africa
Gilles Vaes comes to InfraCo Africa from Engie (ex GDF Suez) and was most recently based in Casablanca where he was responsible for business development in North Africa. He has been developing infrastructure projects for the last 20 years. This has included the new natural gas distribution network of Lima (Peru), wind farms in eastern Romania, a wind farm in Egypt, and recently a sea water desalination plant in southern Morocco. He is passionate about environmental sustainability and socioeconomic development models that improve living standards while not compromising our precious environmental heritage. Gilles brings a range of multi-disciplinary skills spanning business/project development, engineering, operations, economic analysis and a strong project management mindset. He has a master’s degree in engineering from the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium) and an MBA from the George Washington University (USA). Gilles is fluent in English, French, Spanish and Dutch.
