Ettienne le Roux, Chief Economist, Rand Merchant Bank

Ettienne started his career in 1995 as an economist at the National Treasury and joined RMB in 1998 as a financial markets economist. He then became co-head of RMB’s fixed income, commodity and currency team. In 2009 Ettienne was appointed as Chief Economist at RMB. He has been recognised with various performance awards, is a regular commentator in the media and has published numerous opinion pieces. In July 2013 Ettienne was appointed by the Minister in the Presidency as a member of the South African Statistics Council — a position he still holds today.
