Estelle Levin-Nally, CEO & Founder, Levin Sources

Estelle Levin-Nally is CEO and founder of Levin Sources, a social venture that builds sustainable, valuable and equitable minerals sectors and supply chains. For nearly 20 years, Estelle has been partnering with public, private and third sector actors to spearhead innovations in policy and practice to shape more sustainable minerals sectors for business, society and nature: she has been doing ‘ESG’ since before it was called that. She is proud to be a WIM100 Global Inspirational Woman (2020).

Estelle’s expertise is diverse, building upon her skills as a lateral thinker, her multidisciplinary training in sustainable development and her experience as a company owner and director. Much of Estelle’s work is on responsible sourcing, ASM sector development, and mining & environment. Some of her present projects include leading the authorship of the OECD’s Practical Actions Handbook for Environmental Due Diligence for Minerals, leading the creation of the Human Rights Index and Child Labour Index for the Global Battery Alliance’s Battery Passport, and leading responsible sourcing and impact advisory to a battery manufacturer (cobalt), Indian jewellery manufacturer (diamond, gems, precious metals) and a major jewellery brand (coloured gems). She is also presently supporting UNDP with a series of dialogues on the interactions between mining and forests at the point of mineral licensing and environmental permitting across 8 countries and is proud that the World Bank’s Bolt-on Standard for Forest-Smart ASM whose creation she led with Felix Hruschka of ARM will be launched at the end of April.

At Levin Sources, we are experts in delivering successful projects for global clients, including over 100 change-making projects in Africa since 2010. We are a leading advisor for formalising ASM, facilitating responsible trade, and helping manage illegal ASM activities in protected areas and LSM concessions. We enable corporate clients to increase value and deliver positive outcomes through improved strategies, risk management systems, and supplier processes, including supply chain due diligence. We equip governments to better mobilise their mineral assets to achieve sustainable development and good governance. Together, we shape a sustainable minerals sector that builds enduring value for society and the environment by upholding human rights, conducting business responsibly and facilitating good governance, in accordance with the UNSDGs.
