Emmanuel Grand, Senior Managing Director, FTI Consulting
Emmanuel Grand is an economist specialising in the energy sector, with more than 15 years of experience in market analyses, contract negotiations, investment appraisal, regulatory analyses, and economic expertise in litigation.
Mr. Grand regularly supports investors, corporates, and governments in their appraisal of infrastructure assets or energy contracts, notably through commercial due diligence, contract value analyses, or model-based price forecasting exercises in the electricity, gas and carbon markets. He has led and supported commercial negotiations for numerous energy and infrastructure long-term contracts (such as Power Purchase Agreements, Gas/LNG supply agreements, Tenders, and Concession agreements), analysing prices and flexibilities, payments terms, risk-sharing and operational issues for engagements exceeding US$20bn combined.
Mr. Grand regularly supports governments and companies in the assessment, modelling and definition of regulatory models and price controls. He has designed legal and contractual arrangements for regulators, assessed various regulatory options for regulated companies, as well as helped market participants in their regulatory applications in more than 35 countries.
Leveraging Mr. Grand’s expertise in supporting commercial and regulatory decisions, Mr. Grand has conducted numerous projects on disputes over claims worth up to €500m, delivering lead testimonies as a quantum expert in the context of both international arbitration and national court litigation.
Mr. Grand is a graduate of the London School of Economics, the University of Cambridge, and the École Centrale de Lyon. He trained as an economist and an engineer. Mr. Grand has published several books on regulatory economics and the energy sector.
