Barbara Nel, Country President, African Cluster, AstraZeneca

Barbara is AstraZeneca’s Country President (CP) for the African Cluster, with responsibility for South Africa, Sub Sahara and French Speaking Africa. She is a highly experienced business leader with a proven track record of developing, implementing and embedding innovative therapy area and channel strategies across Primary and Specialty Care. She has held various positions and led teams across sales, marketing, strategy and capability both in market and above market.

Barbara has a strong determination to meet the needs of African patients by driving relevance across the patient journey through integrated solutions for both Public and Private patients. She believes that genuine stakeholder partnerships are critical to improving health outcomes for all patients across the African Cluster and at all touch points on the patient journey.

Barbara has been with AstraZeneca since 2011, successfully managing and delivering business priorities in a number of roles in emerging markets globally, working collaboratively across multifunctional departments
