Invest Africa and Oxford Saïd Business School support 15 more African business students through their mentoring programme

Press Release

2nd December 2021

In 2020, Invest Africa launched a business mentoring programme with the University of Oxford/Saïd Business School, pairing MBA students from the Oxford Africa Business Alliance with senior executives from within the Invest Africa membership.

The partnership between the two organisations is a great fit, as the Oxford Africa Business Alliance provides a platform to stimulate vigorous dialogue about business, investment, and entrepreneurship in Africa and the mentoring programme helps students develop their business paths through personal and professional development.

This November, the programme partnered 15 MBA students with senior executives from within the Invest Africa membership. The mentors come from a diverse range of companies and sectors, from Sub Saharan banking groups and digital education platforms to risk consultancy companies. The mentees are equally diverse in their range of talent and business interests. They have backgrounds in financial services, entrepreneurship; agribusiness and banking, to name a few. There is a strong desire amongst many of the students to make a sector change, with a lot of interest shown in entrepreneurship; private equity; technology and education.

Part of Invest Africa’s vision is to be a central and influential driver in Africa’s economic growth and it is important for the impact of the mentoring to extend beyond the one-year programme.
