Monique is a director at DLA Piper South Africa specialising in employment law and data protection. Monique provides advice to multi-national companies on various aspects of employment law including section 197 transfers, retrenchments and restructurings, merger-related employment advice, due diligences, unfair dismissal claims, unfair discrimination claims, compliance with employment equity legislation, how to deal with poor performance and incapacity in the workplace, protected disclosures, sexual harassment, and the deeming provisions in relation to fixed term contracts and temporary employment service employees. Monique also regularly drafts employment contracts, policies, employment equity plans and other employment-related agreements as well as pleadings in litigious matters.

Executive Committee and PE Investment Committee. Natalie started her investment management career at Investec Bank in 1999 where she was part of the team that established Investec Asset Management’s investor centre . In 2002 she joined Thebe Financial Services, a stock broker providing clients with dealing, research and portfolio management as a stock analyst.
In 2003, Natalie joined Actis and was a leading member of the deal teams who led the acquisition of Alexander Forbes, Paycorp , Tekkie Town, Savcio , Tracker, Coricraft and, latterly, the acquisition of Sigma
Pensions in Nigeria.

Her Masters in Business Administration consists of research related to women adding a competitive advantage to the mining sector. She is also the author of “Women and Work, my journey into “Macho” world”. It outlines her experience of being the only senior female in a mining role. Her ambition is to impact female leadership globally by creating a greater awareness of the value women create to the economy. She is passionate about coaching and helping women reach the next level of their career.
Caroline Parker joined FTI Consulting in 2005 and has nearly 20 years of experience in international consultancy. Caroline relocated to FTIs Johannesburg office in September 2014 and works across multiple sectors with South African and global clients. Caroline has overseen the management and strategic development of clients’ global and regional communications programmes via multi-country client teams on large, complex assignments to deliver commercial success to some of the world’s most recognised names in developed and emerging markets.
Caroline has extensive experience working with senior decision makers across a range of stakeholders and integrated disciplines to provide senior counsel and cross border execution of corporate communications, transactions, capital markets activity and crisis communications across international and emerging markets. Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Caroline worked in the corporate and financial practices of Burson-Marsteller and Weber Shandwick. She started her career working with internet and new media start-ups during the dotcom era.
Khadija Patel pushes words on street corners. She is the editor-in-chief of the Mail & Guardian, a co-founder of the The Daily Vox and vice chairperson of the Vienna-based International Press Institute (IPI). As a journalist she has produced work for Sky News, Al Jazeera, The Guardian, Quartz, City Press and the Daily Maverick, among others. She is also a research associate at WISER (Wits Institute for Social and Economic Research at the University of Witwatersrand) and has previously worked in community media. In 2017, she was among 11 people from across Africa and the diaspora who were awarded the inaugural Africa #NoFilter fellowship from the Ford Foundation and in 2018, she was awarded honorary membership of the Golden Key Society. She is passionate about the protection and enhancement of global media as a public good.
