Ashlin Perumall is a senior associate in Baker McKenzie’s Corporate and M&A Practice Group in Johannesburg. He has acted for local and multi-national companies in a wide range of corporate matters. Ashlin specialises in technology-driven M&A and the corporate, commercial and transactional aspects of intellectual property. Ashlin is routinely called to advise on matters involving company law and on-shore or cross-border M&A, corporate structuring as well as transactional work in the technology, media and telecommunication sector, with a focus on the transfer or acquisition of businesses or assets in intellectual property and technology-driven companies.
Marek Busfy – Chief Operating Officer Africa, with more than 17 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry. Marek joined ATC in 2012 from Eaton Towers, where he was Managing Director of the SA business. Prior to 2009, Marek held senior positions for international companies such as Siemens and Ericsson, which included extensive travels throughout Africa. Marek holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from UJ and an MBA from GIBS and is a member of YPO. Marek is passionate about improving education in South Africa and has been involved in the Partners for Possibility programme to empower Principals to become change leaders in their schools and communities.
Envir Fraser, Chief Strategy Officer
Envir is a Partner in the deal team and as Chief Strategy Officer, he oversees the research, regulatory, policy and strategic business development functions. Prior to joining Convergence Partners, Envir worked in the public sector for 10 years both at provincial and national government.
Envir serves on the boards of a number of Convergence Partners’ portfolio companies, as a Trustee of the Ngcaba Foundation Trust (a social venture capital foundation) and the Convergence Partners’ staff trust.
Hardy is a seasoned board-level practitioner with 24 years of extensive senior management experience across Eastern and Southern Africa in investment management, project finance, telecommunications, media and infrastructure. For 14 years he ran a regulated investment management and advisory services business in East Africa. He has board level experience in Kenya, Zimbabwe, Burundi, Tanzania, Zambia and DR Congo including as a non-executive chairman of a US$ 100 million revenue per annum regional infrastructure development company, and as a member of the investment committee of the Eastern and Southern Africa Infrastructure Fund.
As Group Managing Director and CEO, he leads Group strategy, finance, M&A, legal, innovation, resource allocation and Group support functions. He also has oversight for ensuring the strategic alignment of operating companies with the Group’s goals and aspirations.
