Our Team

The team at Invest Africa work tirelessly, using their varied backgrounds and experiences to promote growth and success both in the UK and abroad. From hosting 32 events across 2017, Invest Africa has grown to host 60 in the first half of 2018, and this expansion is reflective of the ambition and motivation inherent to all of the team’s work.


Robert Hersov

Rob Hersov is a South African entrepreneur, senior executive and private investor based in Cape Town. He serves as Chairman and Chief Executive of Invest Africa, Chairman of African Capital Investments, deputy Chairman of VistaJet, Chairman of Adoreum Partners, and Chairman of AON South Africa. In 2013, Rob saw an opportunity to create a platform for the growing number of individuals becoming involved in pan-African investments and founded Invest Africa.

Karen Taylor

Karen Taylor

Karen Taylor has had more than twenty years experience in the trade exhibitions industry with a reputation for successfully managing both private and public companies. She is well versed in the venue and organising sectors of the events and exhibitions industry.

Veronica Bolton-Smith

Veronica joined Invest Africa in February 2018 as Strategy and Development Manager.  Veronica is responsible for building and strengthening relationships among high-level government representatives in order to create and broaden opportunities for Investment in Africa. She brings 16 years’ experience of Africa-focused public-sector and commercial roles focused on trade, energy and international development. Veronica’s passion is to foster growth through trade and investment in Sub-Saharan African nations.

Constança de Sampaio Soares

Constança joined us from Moody’s Investors Service, where she worked for 6 years across the Ratings Desk and Commercial Team focusing on building relationships with key decisions makers across Africa, including Sovereign, Corporates, Financial Institutions, and MDB’s. Prior to that, she worked for two top Spanish and Portuguese Investment Banks.

George Arnold

George Arnold is the Business Development Manager at Invest Africa where he is responsible for generating new avenues of financial growth for the organisation. George joined the organisation after completing an MSc in Imperial History, with a focus on Africa, at London School of Economics.

Carine Kazadi

Carine Kazadi

Carine is responsible for expanding social media content, designing collateral, promoting events and developing media relations. She  joined Invest Africa after two years at the Africa Centre, where she oversaw digital and event marketing. Prior to this, Carine worked for IC Publications, where she assisted with the delivery of high-level meetings across Africa. She holds a Bsc in Marketing from École Supérieure de Commerce et Dévelopment  in Lyon, and a diploma in English  from Université Paris Diderot-VII.


Philippa Jalland

Philippa joined the team in September 2018 as Member Relations Manger, mainly to lead on all UK members related activities. Philippa previously worked at the Ampleforth College in North Yorkshire where she ran all aspects of the Alumni Society for two years.  Prior to this, Philippa was studying at St Mary’s University in Twickenham.

Annette Barrett

Annette Barrett has been working with Rob Hersov since 1993 as his Executive Assistant. She provides “right hand” business and personal support to Rob in all of his varied businesses. Over the years she has gained a wealth of knowledge and an impressive list of contacts in a number of sectors. At Invest Africa she looks after the South African chapter, events and members, and in the UK she works on the global partners programme.

Susan Jones

Susan Jones

Susan Jones was born in Sydney, Australia. She spent her formative years in the UK, South Africa and Zimbabwe. She subsequently worked in Tenerife and Zimbabwe, and the last 30 years between South Africa and the UK. Before joining Business Council for Africa, Susan worked in the Consumer Finance Industry within the Prime and Sub Prime sectors and in the Logistics industry.
