Jane Marriott OBE, British High Commissioner to Kenya

Ms Jane Marriott OBE has been British High Commissioner to Kenya since September 2019.

Prior to taking up her current position, she was Director of the UK’s Joint International Counter-Terrorism Unit. In that role she had responsibility for the overall design of the UK’s international counter-terrorism strategies, working with cross-Government and international stakeholders.

Ms Marriott joined the UK Government’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office in 2001, following roles in the Cabinet Office and Home Office. She has previously served as: joint FCDO Director for the Middle East and North Africa; Ambassador to Sana’a, Yemen (2013-15); Deputy and Acting Ambassador to Tehran; and as an adviser to the US Special Representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan, Richard Holbrooke. She has completed two postings to Iraq and one to Afghanistan.

She was appointed OBE in 2004 for services in Al Amara, Iraq
